Biographical Info

A native of Lexington, Kentucky, Seth Jaeger is a composer, educator, and performer based in Central Kentucky. Seth holds an undergraduate and graduate degree from the University of Kentucky in Bass Trombone Performance. His teachers at UK included Brad Kerns and Joseph Rodriguez.

While at UK, Seth performed with a variety of ensembles, including the Jazz Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, Opera Theater Orchestra, Trombone Choir, and Tuba Euphonium Ensemble. He has performed at the Kentucky Music Educators Association Conference (2016, 2017, 2019), American Trombone Workshop (2016, 2019, 2023), Elmhurst Jazz Festival (2017), Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic (2018), Collegiate Orchestra Directors Association Conference (2022), Midwest Regional Tuba-Euphonium Conference (2022), and the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music Trombone Summit (2023). Seth is the Bass Trombonist of the Lexington Brass Band. Seth can be heard on the UK Jazz Ensembles 2020 album, “…’Til Now” and on Michael DeSousa’s 2022 solo album, “Points of Departure”. 

As an educator, Seth has had the opportunity to work with several successful band programs in the Central Kentucky region. Some include but are not limited to Madison Central (KY), Bourbon County (KY), Dobyns Bennett (TN), and Paul Laurence Dunbar (KY). He maintains a private low brass studio in Central Kentucky. Many of Seth’s students have been successful in All District, All State, and Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra (CKYO) placement.

As a composer and arranger, his works have been performed by several ensembles at the University of Kentucky. He received additional study in composition from Dr. Matt Hightower. Seth is currently the music arranger for the Allen County Scottsville High School Marching Band (KY), and the Cumberland County High School Marching Band (KY).
