James A. Adams

Mr. Adams has served as the band director at Jackson County High School since 2014. The JC Bands started from scratch in the fall of 2014 and within 3 years the program earned distinguished ratings at KMEA Concert Assessment. The JCHS concert band consistently earns distinguished ratings at KMEA Concert Assessment and places students in the KMEA All-State Bands and University ensembles around the region. The JC Bands provides diverse performing experiences through concert band, jazz band, and chamber music ensembles.
Mr. Adams holds a M.M. and B.M. in Music Education from Eastern Kentucky University. Mr. Adams studied euphonium under the tutelage of Prof. James Willett with additional studies on trombone with Dr. Ken Haddix and wind conducting under the guidance of Dr. Joe Allison.
Mr. Adams has been a featured performer with the Eastern Kentucky University Wind Ensemble, Lexington Brass Band, and Madison Community Band. Adams regularly performs with community ensembles around the area including the London Community Orchestra (bass trombone) and Madison Community Band (euphonium).
Mr. Adams is a drill designer for high school bands around the region. Clients include KMEA semifinalists, KMEA finalists, KMEA state champions, BOA Regional finalists, and Contest of Champions finalists.
Mr. Adams maintains professional affiliations with the Kentucky Music Educators Association and the International Tuba- Euphonium Association.
