Jeremy Tate is a native of Humboldt, Tennessee, and currently serves as the Music Advisor and Consultant for the middle and high school band programs in the Gibson County Special School District. Before stepping into that role, he spent 15 years as the Director of Bands at Gibson County High School in Dyer, Tennessee.

During his time at Gibson County, the band consistently earned superior ratings in both marching and concert performance. The Marching Pioneers were named Tennessee Marching Band State Champions in 2011, 2014, 2017, and 2018, and were recognized as the Tennessee Music Awards’ Marching Band of the Year in 2018. Under Jeremy’s direction, the band performed at several memorable events, including a standstill concert at the Statue of Liberty, the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, New York City’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and most notably when Tate served as the lead director for the Gibson County Mass Band in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California.

Jeremy attended the Humboldt City School System before continuing his education at the University of Memphis and Bethel College. Along the way, he was honored as Gibson County School District’s Teacher of the Year for the high school level in 2012 and Gibson County High School’s Teacher of the Year in 2014.

In addition to his work in public education, Jeremy has taught and consulted with numerous high schools, colleges, and drum corps throughout the Midwest and Southeast. His experience includes serving as Associate Director of Bands at Bethel College, Visual Caption Head for Memphis Sound Drum and Bugle Corps, and visual staff member with both Southwind and the Madison Scouts.

Today, Jeremy remains active as a clinician and adjudicator across the country. He currently judges for Drum Corps International (DCI), Winter Guard International (WGI), Bands of America (BOA), and a variety of local and regional circuits.

When he’s not working with bands and performing ensembles, Jeremy enjoys spending time with his wife, Erika, and their daughters, Katherine and Cassidy. They make their home in Jackson, Tennessee.
