Dr. Jason Griffith is the Chief Information Officer and Director of Federal Programs for Bath County Schools. Prior to this, he was the Assistant Principal at Bath County High School. Dr. Griffith began as an Assistant Director in Ohio in 1991 and would teach instrumental music in the Frontier Local, Morgan Local, and East Knox Local School Districts. Dr. Griffith also taught music on the faculties of Kenyon College, Ohio University, and Mount Nazarene University, and graduate education leadership courses at Union College.
In 2006, Dr. Griffith moved to Kentucky and taught for 16 years in the Letcher County Schools. His bands consistently Distinguished assessments in concert band. The Wind Ensemble was the first in District 9 to earn a Distinguished assessment at Kentucky State Concert Band Assessment at the University of Louisville. Under his direction, the Letcher County Marching Band was chosen by audition to represent Kentucky in the 2013 Inauguration Parade for President Barack Obama.
Dr. Griffith marched with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps and between 2004 and 2009, was a member of the Board of Directors for the corps. Dr. Griffith is a published composer on JW Pepper and his compositions have been played by bands across the country. He is also the Founder and Director of KYVA Summer Winds, a professional wind band in southeast Kentucky.
Dr. Griffith has earned the Bachelor Degree (B.A.) in Music Education from West Liberty University, the Master of Music (M.M.) in Euphonium Performance from Ohio University, the Master of Education Leadership (M.Ed.) from Morehead State University, the Doctor of Education Leadership (Ed.D.) from Ashland University, and will complete the Certificate of School Management and Leadership from Harvard University in the fall of 2024.
