Biographical Info

Bill Allred, a native of Middlesboro, Kentucky, is in his 1st year as director of bands at Coopertown Middle School in Springfield, Tennessee. Mr. Allred recently retired after 28 years with the Clovis Municipal Schools in Clovis, New Mexico—four years as Assistant Band Director at Clovis High School, one year as the Marshall Junior High Band Director, and the past 23 years as Head Director of the Clovis High Band Program. Mr. Allred graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Music Education Degree.

Under his direction, the Clovis Band has experienced many successes. From 2003 to now, the Clovis High School band achieved 15 Zia state grand championships, including the last 11 years in a row. They have made finals at the Tournament of Bands 6 times, winning Grand Champions twice. They have been a consistent Bands of America finalist in Utah, California, Arizona, and Texas. Achieving class AAA champion and 2nd over-all at St. George, Utah Bands of America three times. Class AAA champion twice at Midland, Texas Bands of America. Grand Champions at Flagstaff, Arizona Bands of America Regional in 2022 and Grand Champions at Las Cruces, New Mexico Bands of America Regional in 2022. 30 Grand Championships in West Texas at Amarillo, Lubbock, and Denver City. They have been nominated to apply for the prestigious Sudler Shield four times. US Special Operations Air Force Gift of Combat Flag in recognition of Clovis High School Marching Band.

Mr. Allred’s concert ensembles have received superior ratings at all rated events at district, state, and nationally judged festivals, performing 2 grade 6 literatures in wind band literature each year. In 2004, 2008, 2014 and 2018 have been selected as the New Mexico All-State Honor Band. In 2014, Clovis was named New Mexico state concert band 5A state champion. The Clovis Band has averaged 25 all-state students over the last 21 years and has averaged 65% of the SENMMEA all-district band membership during that time. The Clovis Band has received the “Key to the City” for their accomplishments. The City of Clovis has on four occasions proclaimed, “Clovis Wildcat Marching Band Day”. The Clovis band was awarded the prestigious National Bandmasters Association Schools of Excellence “Blue Ribbon Award.” Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham declared February 7, 2020, as Clovis High School Marching band day in New Mexico. The Foundation for Music Education, Mark of Excellence National Wind Band Honors, National Winner New Music Division.

Mr. Allred is a recipient of the Clovis High School faculty “Star” award, “Certificate of Merit for Marching Excellence” by NBA, “Distinguished Service Award” by the Clovis Noonday Kiwanis, “50 Directors Who Make a Difference” by School Band and Orchestra Magazine. Mr. Allred was featured in the May 2014 issue of the School Band and Orchestra Magazine. Mr. Allred has judged in New Mexico, Texas, Kentucky, Arizona, Illinois, and Utah. He presided Amarillo schools’ professional development for all directors fall of 2018. Mr. Allred was presented the “Key to the City” for Clovis, on May 14, 2014, by Mayor Mr. Mike Morris.

Mr. Allred is most proud of his students that continued in music education in the surrounding universities and numerous area band directors.

Bill is a proud father to both Addison and stepson Dalton Hahn!
