The Warren East High School Band program is seeking a Color Guard Director for the 2012-13 year.
About the Warren East Band Program:
The WEHS Marching Band competes in KMEA Class AAA West. We are anticipating having approximately 80 students in the marching band in 2012 with approximately 10-15 color guard members. The WEHS Band has improved each of the last several years, reaching the Class AAA State Semifinals each year since 2008. We have placed 10th in AAA the past two years and are looking for a Color Guard Director to help take our program to the next level.
We also have had a competitive SCGC Winter Guard the past three years, competing in both Novice Class & Scholastic Regional A Class.
We are looking to grow our numbers both in the Marching Band Guard & Winter Guard programs.
Responsibilities of our Color Guard Director include:
1. Creation of all guard choreography for the 2012 Marching Band Show 2. Teaching guard members of all performance levels, grades 8-12. 3. Attendance at all rehearsals & performances (exceptions can be made). 4. Recruiting, auditioning and running a competitive Winter Guard program.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Successful teaching experience with another band program. 2. A positive disposition. 3. Skills and experience with flags, dance, and weapons. 4. A willingness to work with directors to design a successful marching band show. 5. Strong organizational skills & professionalism.
Our band program is willing to offer a competitive salary based upon our applicant’s experience level. We are looking for a long-term Color Guard Director that can take our entire Guard program to great heights and are willing to pay accordingly to hire and retain the right person.
